The 23rd I had to start earlier than the day before. I headed over back to the church where the summer camp was held and helped there with preparing the breakfast and keeping the children occupied. Once we had finished the breakfast I said my goodbyes to my fellow leaders and all the children before heading off to the station. Once I arrived I met my new interpreter for the day and we headed off to the school where now not 52 but 44 children were studying hard. It did not seem to bother them that they had to work a little longer on the words, letters and the math equations. But we could help where needed. I experienced how the two female teachers dealt with nose bleeds and little wounds. How they would handle the situations. Today I was not only in the playing room but I also visited the hall/gym where they were playing dodge ball. Apparently this is a popular game and they even have contests with their schools in other locations. Instead of just having one male teacher a second one was there and I could also see how they dealt with crying children, apologies and all kind of other little things. The children where more comfortable with me this second day and they even dragged me along to play games with them. They also taught me how to play games like babanuki and mancala. It was time for the announcements once again and then for their lunches. The boys and girls swapped places. All the boys could sit downstairs today and the girls had to go upstairs. But the day for me had ended so quickly even though they were noisier than the children in our schools they were very nice. And it was nice to experience how the teachers did all this and make conversations with the children. For if you did not know that the system of the schools are a bit different. They are. I walked with my second interpreter to her daughters school (Fukiai High School) which was pretty much right opposite. We walked in there to collect her daughter. But it was packed with students from many different schools, this could be seen by the school uniforms they were wearing. There was an open campus here. But the main weird thing is that the schools are open in the holidays for the children to go there and study. There are no classes but there are teachers who can help out. How fun these two children groups were, they did make me very tired. Ready to go to the last school on friday.
