So, I am currently in Japan spending my summer vacation here but also doing my WISWEX. It was really difficult to find a work placement from abroad so I did it all pretty last minute and it was not easy. I managed to find a place in the end but not for a full week. Instead, I decided to follow four different teachers and have a look as to what they do for work and how. Each ‘school’ was also very different. In Japan the school year starts in April. The summer holiday is therefore a ‘break’ during their school year. A lot of children then go to ‘cram’ school. A kind of BSO – but where they work hard for part of the time and do all their homework. Some children get sent to “camps” which is where I followed one activity. Some have ‘hobbies’ which is another ‘school’ I followed. The last is still to come.
