Today was a day off. I slept throughout the morning and spent time on my boring homework. Not much happened until in the evening when 'uncle' Ian showed up from Wales. I spent time talking to him about many questions and other subjects. For example is korfball a sport, is it not the same as netball, is the world round or flat, how does gravity work, why does gravity work on helium but not on the air, how does a plane stay up? Etc. Together we established that we agree to disagree and came up with the reasons the inventor invented korfball. We had a good blast, laughed for hours and talked for what seemed days. In fact, we'd just started when the rest of the family re-joined us. After supper, I headed out first with my aunt to meet Claudia, with whom I would be a waitress at a concert from the Russian ensemble called Lyra (http://www.lyra-singers.com). We dropped 'uncle' Ian off at the station and then went home to eat cake. And that was that. I met a welsh man who sees reality and is not afraid to speak it. Of the two welsh people I have met so far, they are quite interesting people and always like to have a talk (and fun).

How's your Russian coming along? (I mean your knowledge of the language.)

As for korfball*: of course it's a sport. Korfball is part of the same family of sports as netball and basketball. Did you know that there are also korfball teams playing in England? For example, the team in the city where you first stayed is apparently called Guildford Thunder.

(* By the way: well observed with the English spelling, Simke!)
